'Stoke turned in another good performance away from home, this time at Chelmsford earning a point in a 2-2 draw with a brace from centre back Adam Aimable.
Town started solidly and took a shock lead in the 10th minute after the ball was headed home by Aimable from a Matt Warner free kick. 'Stoke were on the backfoot for the rest of the half after this and a mistake from Kitteridge meant them going into the dressing room at half time drawing 1-1 rather than being 1-0 up, the ‘Stoke keeper seemingly dropping a corner into his goal.
Chelmsford came at Town from the off in the second half and took the lead on 50 minutes with a goal from Ricky Holmes. Chelmsford were in control of the game at this point and were looking for a third when a mistake by their back line let in Aimable to score his second. The ball broke loose just outside the area and his controlled shot found the back of the net. The defender had never scored for Basingstoke before this game.
Town defended well for the remainder of the game and could have won it at the death when Tarpey's run and shot hit a divot in the ground. The shot which appeared to be heading wide bounced up and struck the post.
