Soccer is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players. Each team has a goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. While forwards are typically the players who score goals, defenders can also score. In fact, defenders are often asked to contribute to the offense and score goals to help their team win. Defenders score by either shooting from a distance or by getting on the end of a cross from a teammate. Though it is more difficult for defenders to score, it can be a powerful way for a team to take the lead in a game.
