Jimmy started his career at Bashley and finished top scorer in the Southern Division One during the 1998/99 season. He was soon snapped up by Havant & Waterlooville in August 1999.
At Havant, he was twice runner up for the Golden Boot in the Southern League Premier but finally won the title in the 2002/03 season with 22 goals.
His abilities have earned him caps for both the Southern League Representative team and the England Non-League team.
He made 295 appearances for Havant and scored 138 goals before he left in August 2005. He joined Eastleigh but left them just a month later when he joined the 'Stoke.
Taylor struggled for form when he first joined the club and had to wait until late November for his first goal. Just two more goals followed before April when new manager Francis Vines was brought to the club as 'Stoke were toying with relegation. Jimmy scored five goals to help keep the club in the division.
In the 2006/07 season, Taylor averaged a goal every two and a half games and was named player of the season.
An injury hit 2007/08 season saw him play less games, but Jimmy still managed to average a goal every three games, including the only goal in the Hampshire Senior Cup final against Farnborough. He left the club in the summer of 2008 after deciding he couldn't continue to play at Conference South level. |
